7th Grade visting Artist

Our seventh grade classes had the pleasure of hosting Mrs. Ruth Vaughan this week! Mrs. Vaughan taught them about the history of paper and its origins, which included a nasty death threat, a stinging insect and how an ancient technique has helped our FBI stop high-tech counterfeiting crime. Students were then able to create their own paper and contribute to a large scale paper pulp painting of Canandaigua lake. Thank you to the PTSA and Monroe #1 BOCES for helping us to secure the funding for this exciting and influential collaboration.

Here are some photos of our time with Mrs. Vaughan.

Welcome Midknights

My Husband and me volunteering at Ironman Lake Placid

Welcome to Mrs. Warchol's Art Blog, I am so excited to have YOU in my class this year! I hope you had an amazing summer and are rested and excited to be coming back to school. I had a very busy summer as my husband and I bought our first house. It has been exciting, but it has been a lot of work!

This is my sixth year in Pittsford and my fourth year at CRMS. This year I will be taking on the role of department leader and art club advisor. Please continue to refer back to the blog for class updates, student artwork and art club announcements.

I have been involved in the arts since high school and fell in love with it, specifically photography, immediately! I went to The University at Buffalo and got my Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in photography. I worked as a photographer right out of college and still own my own photography business. After a while I  decided to go back to school to get my Masters Degree and teaching certificate from Nazareth College. You can often find me at the Memorial Art Gallery or the George Eastman House. I love art so much I married a graphic designer! Below you will find some examples of my own artwork.

Happy Summer

I cannot believe how quickly this school year progressed and how much each of you grew during your time in my classroom. Whether it was tackling a new medium or trying a new technique, you each did a fabulous job rising to the high expectations I set for you, not that I am surprised.

For my 8th graders who are moving on to high school, I wish you the best of luck and hope you come back to visit once in a while. For my 6th and 7th graders you will be in great hands regardless of who your art teacher will be next year!

As some of you know I have taken a position at CRMS that will allow me to put roots down in one building and even take on some leadership opportunities. I am looking forward to next year and the new challenges that it will provide.

For now I look forward to traveling, working part-time, professional development and tackling all sorts of projects at our new house. I hope you all have a wonderful and restful summer!

BRMS-Art Club

Attention art club members, we will be meeting on Monday, May 12 at 2:30 in room 216. See you then! I am planning to have one more meeting in June, we will set the date when we are together on Monday.

CRMS- Report Cards

Just a friendly reminder to my CRMS students. We do not assign grades for art for the 10 week marking period. Since we only see you every other day, we consider this our 5 week point. At this point you have been able to finish one, maybe two projects and we do not feel that those grades always represent an accurate measure of how you are progressing in art. If you are ever curious about your progress, feel free to check out Infinite Campus because it is always up to date, or just ask me!
