Snowy Day!!

Hi Everyone! Hope you are enjoying this lovely snowy day in Rochester. Just to remind you, your sketchbook assignment and more importantly, your perspective painting will be due on Monday now. We will critique in class and start our next unit on Tuesday. Have a fun and safe long weekend.

Quarter 3 Sketchbook Assignment

As discussed on the first day, sketchbook assignments are a requirement for the Studio Art course. A sketchbook is a tool for improvement and documents your growth as an artist. You may choose to provide your own sketchbook, or you may add blank paper to the inside of your Studio Art folder. Assignments are to be done for homework. Any student working on their sketchbook assignment in class, without permission, will receive half credit for that assignment.

Sketchbooks that are not handed in by their due date listed below will

lose 2 points for each class day it is late.

Each quarter the sketchbook assignments will focus on a specific topic.

Quarter Three will focus on ARTISTS

The guidelines are listed below:

· For each weekly assignment choose ONE artist.

· You may choose an artist we have discussed in class, an artist you may have researched last quarter when you were looking up movements, or you may do research on a new artist that interests you. The artist can be historical or contemporary. Try http://wwar.com/artists if you are stuck.

· You must then choose how you would like to teach me about that artist. You can do research. You can make a small piece of 2-D artwork in their style, or based on one of their pieces of artwork.

· If you choose research, you must hand in one full page of research on that artist, with multiple examples of their work. The examples must include the title and date of the work. Also include the media if available.

· If you choose to create a piece of artwork in their style, or based on one of their pieces but must fit inside of your sketchbook/folder. You must also include the piece of artwork you took inspiration from. Some options are drawing, painting, collage or photography. It can be any 2-D media.

· Please label everything, include the date, your name & the artist’s name.
