Calkins- 7th Grade Grid Project

The seventh grade students have been working hard and collaborating with each other to complete this mystery grid drawing. Students had some very clever guesses at the beginning, but it became very apparent as students added their pieces that is was of Amelia Earhart. This semesters grid project brought together three classes to create 70 individual 4x4in squares.

An Interactive Cloud Made of 6,000 Light Bulbs

Check out this awesome art installation!! CLOUD is a large scale interactive installation by artist Caitlind r.c. Brown that appeared September 15th as part of Nuit Blanche Calgary in Alberta, Canada. The piece is made from 1,000 working lightbulbs on pullchains and an additional 5,000 made from donated burnt out lights donated by the public. Visitors to the installation could pull the chains causing the cloud to sort of shimmer and flicker. Check out the link below to see video footage of the installation.
