Artists on Exhibit

Congratulations to the following students who currently have work on display in various exhibits around Rochester! If you have a chance to visit any of the following locations look out for their artwork! Kiana and Claire have prints on display at the Pittsford Public Library. Hayley and Lia also have prints on display in the Board of Education offices. Starting on January 29th the following students will have work on display at the Rochester Institute of Technology in the Rochester/Finger Lakes MS & HS Community Exhibition. Xuanyu will have a still life drawing on display. Jennifer and Will will have their paper sculptures on display. Again congrats to everyone, I am so proud of the work ALL of my students have done and look forward to more exhibition opportunities.

Sculpture Projects

We began by learning about the different types of sculpture processes and about sculpture artists including Paley and Calder. Paley is currently working in the Rochester area and many of his sculptures can be seen in the community. The students were asked to select an object and break it down into at least ten simple shapes. They then created an abstract paper sculpture of that object by repeating and changing the scale of those shapes. They constructed their sculptures using only black and white paper and glue. Some objects included a calculator, pencil sharpener, metronome, cello and fire extinguisher. Please enjoy, unfortunately the photographs don't capture how amazing most of them are.
