Calkins- 7th Grade

Last week was a very exciting week for our seventh grade art students! We had a visiting artist work with the students to teach them about paper making. Mrs. Ruth Vaughn worked with our students for two days, teaching them about the history & origins of paper and making hand made paper. In addition to each student being able to make their own paper, they were also all able to contribute to a large group paper painting. Traditionally we choose a masterpiece and the students recreate it using paper pulp. The students used blenders and recycled paper to make the pulp and basters as their brushes! Here is the finished work based on Vermeer's painting Girl with the Pearl Earring...

Calkins- Report Cards

Just a friendly reminder to my CRMS students. We do not assign grades for art for the 10 week marking period. Since we only see you every other day, we consider this our 5 week point. At this point you have been able to finish one, maybe two projects and we do not feel that those grades always represent an accurate measure of how you are progressing in art. If you are ever curious about your progress, feel free to check out Infinite Campus because it is always up to date, or just ask me! Hope you had a great weekend.
